1-12-10

Well, obviously, something has happened. It’s what always happens! Something gets in the way of my focus. This past week it was a variety of things, but mostly it was my sinuses. I have to take such strong medicine that it knocks me out and I could not get up early to get to the gym. It’s really not an excuse – it’s just the truth. I don’t know what to do about that. I have cut back on my eating, but not diligent to keep up with it.

I am feeling worse and worse, physically. Something has got to give. I have to change. I am very discouraged.

Bible Verse for today: Psalm 17:5 (New King James Version)

5 Uphold my steps in Your paths,
That my footsteps may not slip.

1-5-10

I made it to the gym again this morning. I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical machine on level 10. Again....this week I am simply trying to re-establish my routine of getting up early, going ot the gym, coming home and eating a healthy breakfast, spend time studying God's Word and praying. I had a great time studying Nehemiah this morning. I am reading a chapter each day. I then re-write it in my own words and say what is happening. I also highlight through short bulleted points what God is teaching me through the study.

I did not do well today on the healthy diet front. I am going to try to work into it as my routine develops. However, I know the importance of eating right. One of my major goals is to be healthy and to feel better. I know that what I put into my body is a major factor in attaining that goal.

Food intake for today:
  • Breakfast -- peanut butter wheat toast and coffee
  • Lunch -- Queenies Diner -- Steamed cabbage, potato salad, 10 oz. hamburger steak and a corn muffin. Sweet tea to drink.
  • Dinner -- Mexican Restaurant -- Fajita grilled chicken quesadilla, bean and a ton of chips and melted white cheese. I know - I was totally out of control.
  • 1 liter of water when I was working out.

Today's Bible Verse: "I can do all things through Christe who gives me the strength." Philippians 4:13

1-4-10

My goal for today was simpily to get started. So Igot up at 6:00 a.m. and was at the gym by 6:15 a.m. I need to go to bed earlier -- it was very hard to get up. I spent 30 minutes on the elliptical machine at level 10. As I said, I am just getting started. I was very casual in my exercise but I did break a sweat

My diet today:

  • Breakfast -- peanut butter wheat toast and coffee

  • Lunch -- Wendy's at 1:30 p.m. -- Single with cheese, fries and a diet coke.

  • Dinner -- bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, ham and PBJ with toast. Not healthy at all. I have got to do better than this.

I plan to post my stats only once a month. I have a short term goal to lose 10 pounds by January 31st.

STATS:

  • Weight -- 274

  • Waist -- 48 inches

  • Chest -- 51 inches

  • Arms -- 15.5 inches

  • Legs -- 24 inches

  • BMI == 35.4

  • %Body Fat -- 3o.5% (80+ pounds of fat)
Talk about a major wake up call - these stats really tell the tale. I have a long way to go. I am much bigger than the "before" picture shows. I made some with my shirt off - but there is not way I will post those on here!! Maybe when I weigh 200!!!

Bible Verse for today: "I have been crucified with Christ - it is not longer I who lives but Christ lives in me and the life I live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me! Galatians 2:20

Serious Transformation

I am beginning my journey to a 75 pound weight loss. My first day is on January 4th. My goal is to reach 200 pounds by my birthday - December 18, 2010.

My beginning weight is 276 pounds. I will list my measurements on my first day. And I will post my "before" picture. I also plan to record my eating habits on this blog as well as share my feelings about each day's exercise/training sessions.

Some of my other goals include:
  • Training for an Ironman event/race or something really challenging around the same time as my birthday. Possibly the one that ocurs in Panama City in November.
  • Buy a Kayak for personal recreation
  • Begin hiking some of the trails in Alabama and the Smokies
